What are some recent high-profile matters in which your legal team has been involved?
As well as a construction project and the beginning the operation of a risk management system for overseas subsidiaries, we launched a major diversity and inclusion promotion project. These are examples of some of our larger projects, but there are a vast number of smaller issues I work on daily.
What are some innovative business improvements that your legal team has implemented without spending a lot of money?
Since we utilise multiple systems, especially making use of legal tech, we do not rely on external consultants for the integration of systems to improve productivity and efficiency. Identifying areas of improvement and working towards fixing issues are constant efforts.
How important is it to you that your firm subscribes to your company’s values when selecting an outside law firm?
Since we are formulating human rights policies and other matters that are highly related to values and ethics, it is important for external law firms to have a shared sense of values which emphasise human rights and diversity and inclusion.
What do you think in-house lawyers should do to build good relationships with law firms and other business partners?
Build a relationship of trust sincerely and straightforwardly so that we can build a lasting business relationship.
