What are some of the key matters that your legal team has been involved in recently?
The team has been involved in many key matters on an international scale. We have been involved in litigation and disputes in Southeast Asia and China. We have also been involved in M&A in North America. The team have also been involved with matters relating to Personal Information Protection Law and we have recently contributed to the operation of a whistle-blower system.
Could you share an example of a time when your team came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
The team have worked on building a global personal information protection system. We have also implemented new legal technologies to improve our current legal operations.
How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values?
It is very important that we choose to work with external lawyers who align with our values. There is a criterion that we follow, and we evaluate firms annually using this criterion. We evaluate outside counsel by the measures including the quality, cost, speed, and value.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
It is important for in-house lawyers to gather plenty of information from different sources and to communicate this information to their partners with a fair stance.
