Angela is a senior international lawyer with more than 28 years’ experience at top global law firms and as general counsel for leading global corporations headquartered in the United States. Angela is an experienced Board Director and management team member. Her experience includes managing all legal, regulatory and compliance matters necessary to provide legal support to a complex global business, including managing risk and high profile regulatory and compliance investigations. Angela has broad experience negotiating transactions in the public and private sectors in e-commerce, management consulting, and other industries. She has proven hiring, management and restructuring experience for substantial legal teams across multiple countries.

Since May 2016, Angela has been the Associate General Counsel and Japan Legal Director of Amazon Japan, where she manages the largest legal team in Japan by number of qualified lawyers. Angela is a member of Amazon Japan’s Retail Leadership Team and a representative for several Amazon Japan entities. 

Prior to joining Amazon, Angela was a Managing Director at Accenture Japan for approximately 5 years, where she was the Director of Legal Services for Japan and South Korea, a Board Director and on the management team for Accenture in both countries, and the Asia Pacific regional transactions legal lead. Whilst in this role Angela managed a team of more than 100 lawyers, legal professionals and assistants.  

From 2006-2008, Angela was the Director of Legal Services for Mitsubishi UFJ Merrill Lynch PB Securities Co., Ltd. (Tokyo), and a Board Director and management team member.

Prior to moving in-house, Angela spent more than 10 years working as an international transactional lawyer in the Tokyo offices of Morrison & Foerster and Clifford Chance.
