Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?
I have successfully worked with the internal operations team to streamline the group-wide litigation process and centralise the receipt of court order services to address any possible delay in mitigating any financial exposure to the bank in the event of any delay in attending to the court order. This training cost nothing as I leveraged it on an existing operations team and implemented the process earlier this year. In fact, my team won an internal operational excellence award for the innovative project in May this year which came with a financial reward as a form of recognition.
What are some of your main tips for dealing with a crisis?
Personally, as a senior legal head, I have faced many of the crises faced by business teams. My first tip for dealing with a crisis is to remain mentally calm despite the chaos surrounding you, so that you can strategise clearly and not allow your mind to be clouded. Once you have formed your strategy, you need approval from your superiors before actioning with your business team, who are usually in the frontline of the crisis. Third, you need to wait for a reputable external firm and brief them on the issues related to the crisis, should there be any claims / requests are made against the bank, you must have an external team ready to help immediately to defend your organisation.
