What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

With the end of Covid-19, the return to the office has been the most important challenge for the legal industry in the last year. Law firms have implemented a progressive and partial return to face-to-face work.

In the finance sector, diverse ways of reintegration after the pandemic have been adopted, including the return to the offices after three years, without considering the teachings from last times.

However, the decision from the bank where I work has managed to get the best of the two options. In that way, the days you go to the office are used for teams and client meetings and the home office days are used for the day-to-day work.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

Every year technology innovations are evolving exponentially, and the legal industry is not an exception. Because of this, law firms and companies that have a legal team are implementing repositories of documents and technological tools to help their lawyers.

Also, with the creation of AI programs (ChatGPT or Google Bard), the repositories could become even more interactive. Today’s challenge is to ensure these tools help people’s work, as well as protect their personal and confidential information.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

The post-pandemic era has important challenges for the legal and financial industry. One of these issues is the digitalisation of products and services. This not only changes internal procedures of different institutions, but also laws and rules.

An important example is the digital signature, which, despite being regulated years ago, is not considered reliable.
