What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
The number one challenge that has impacted me this past year has been defining and adapting our new role as a legal area. Particularly, after a pandemic in which the needs of the company and the different ways in which we interact have changed, as well as new different tools being generated.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
I believe that over time different tools have been developed that have meant that our work as in-house lawyers is no longer limited to the interpretation and validation of laws. Our role is changing into a more strategic one, more closely linked to the integral and active participation in each of the different company processes, even the very technical ones, with a closer focus on the internal client and with a 360 global vision, with knowledge beyond just the legal processes.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
Unfortunately, the political situation is a matter of concern, the political instability that Peru has been going through has generated and continues to generate not only a significant impact on the market but also a regulatory impact. This has affected all companies, regardless of their sector, generating legal and regulatory gaps that instead of establishing order and efficiency in management, generate the opposite.
