Francisco Guillermo Rivandeneira Gastañeta
Legal vice president and corporate secretary | Scotiabank Peru
Team size: 60
What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?
The main challenge has been the digital transformation of the bank’s products, services, and channels against a framework challenging cybersecurity regulation. This has demanded hard teamwork with our commercial and technology colleagues, as well as training together with our team in new concepts and ways of working.
Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?
The development of AI applicable to the different legal roles and functions, such as data management, generation of smart contracts, legal library, parameterised responses to regulators, among others, will impact the role of legal teams and complement the work of any internal legal operator.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
I believe it is extremely important to contribute to a solid corporate governance, provide top-class legal services focused on the needs of all clients, and strive to make cybersecurity more solid to better protect our clients’ and bank’s assets and reputation.
