After ten years in private practice, Diego Enjuto Jareño decided to join what he calls the ‘exciting’ project of leading the in-house legal office of ISS Facility Services. With 36,000 employees in Iberia, taking care of all legal matters related to such a large workforce has become a challenge that Enjuto has successfully stayed abreast of.

Undertaking responsibilities in both Spain and Portugal which poses the challenge of differences in legislation and manners of understanding law, as well as how law is interpreted has allowed him to gain all-encompassing experience. This is over a broad range of areas related not only to legal affairs but also compliance, insurance, risk management and data protection. ‘Leading a team of lawyers in different countries and jurisdictions, different legal specialisations, different backgrounds and ways of understanding law is a huge challenge, taking into consideration that us lawyers tend to be quite individualistic and love to do things our way. Therefore, the creation of the ISS Iberia legal office, a team of true legal colleagues has been one of my major achievements from a human perspective’ states Enjuto.

Throughout his leadership he has undoubtedly helped the legal team provide a more business orientated advice, becoming a real partner to operations and broadening the perspective of the function to a more international one. Enjuto has led a number of local and cross-border transactions including directly with the group’s headquarters in Copenhagen. He has also undertaken relevant service contracts with a wide range of multinational customers. ‘Currently, we are working with the group and all ISS countries in a very exciting project of adaptation to the new GDPR, since data protection responsibilities also fall within our area’ says Enjuto.
