Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved the way your compliance team works and didn’t come at a huge cost?

To make compliance with the company’s regulatory obligations before the Bolivian telecommunications regulatory authority more efficient, a system was managed that allows monitoring compliance with regulatory goals and obligations, in addition to automatically generating reports for presentation. This system was generated internally in the company, based on the requirements and presentation parameters of regulatory obligations, which did not imply a great cost for the company.

What are some of the key developments (legal, geopolitical, or otherwise) that have affected your business over the past year?

In telecommunications, the development and acquisition of technology is key to being at the forefront of this market. Due to the worldwide economic situation that affected the production of equipment, this sector was affected in the expansion of its services and innovation of new technologies. This situation forced us to be more creative regarding finding new solutions for our business and in this way not to be left behind in relation to the competition we have in Bolivia.

How do you think the role of the in-house lawyers will evolve in the coming years?

The internal legal role will have a positive evolution with the implementation of new technologies, through the application of artificial intelligence that will improve the internal legal work of the company, expanding the capacity for attention and resolution of business legal problems.

Do you use any technology products, and if so, for which areas of your work do you find them most useful?

Yes, we use several legal technology products, two products that were generated within the company at the request of my management, which allow monitoring and compliance with regulatory obligations and monitoring compliance and validity of the different contracts signed by the company, in addition to using an external product to search for regulations, jurisprudence and doctrine.
