The in-house legal department at Bombardier is highly regarded for its technical ability, quantity of business generated and creativity in its legal acumen. Led by senior vice president and general counsel Alain Rondeau, the team contains 175 lawyers across 17 countries managed from Bombardier’s headquarters in Montreal. Bombardier is the world’s largest producer of planes and trains, and caters to many different international markets in each sector. The comapny is traded on the Toronto stock exchange, with an annual revenue in 2017 at C$16.2bn. In the last year, the legal team has worked on a large number of projects and deals including a contract to provide 113 Multilevel III commuter rail cars for the New Jersey Transit Corporation valued at US$669m, the opening of the final section of the Delhi metro network in conjunction with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and the confirmation of the order of new Global 7500 aircraft by NetJets corporation with options through to 2021.
