All of Siemens’ global businesses have operations in Canada spread across 61 locations and 14 manufacturing, research and development facilities. These businesses include energy management, building technologies, a digital factory, process industries, mobility, and power generation and services, as well as Siemens’ financing business and affiliates in healthcare and wind power. The Siemens Canada legal department is made up of 20 professionals who work as part of the larger global department of over 100 lawyers, in particular its M&A practice group. The department has been recognised for its work through multiple industry awards, particularly for its use of technology and managing and developing talent. In the internal Siemens Global Legal Innovation Challenge in 2017, the Siemens Canada legal team submitted 55 innovations, all reaching the second round of the competition. The department continues its innovative approach with its “Lawyer as Business Developer” initiative, which is helping Siemens grow its business and increase revenue. General counsel for Siemens Canada Richard Brait leads the team, which serves a crucial purpose for the strong performance and continued innovation of the business.
