Focus on… Our Legal Team 

We are professional lawyers equipped with vast range of legal technical skills and experience. Many of our lawyers were litigation or corporate banking practitioners before joining the bank, or have gained their expertise from other financial institutions. Our goal is to be a strategic partner to our business and functions team. Other than legal support and advice, our lawyers are also involved in end to end product design from customer interface to operational execution, as well as deal structuring where we not only provide legal advice, but also are a sounding board to sense check and to prompt further considerations with our business team from an operational controls, reputation and conduct perspective hence assisting the bank to provide the best possible solutions and services to the customers.

As a team, we encourage constant sharing and communication between the lawyers. We discuss the challenges arising from business transactions and product journeys that the legal team supported, or any work issues faced by the lawyers. This allows us to learn from each other and speak in one voice to our stakeholders, and the team as a whole would have general visibility of what other team members, and every business segment is doing. We also ensure that every team member has the avenue to speak with the managers and general counsel, including feedback relating to work, career and personal development or the wellbeing of the team member.

Outside of work, our lawyers are a bunch of sporting and fun-loving individuals. We organise get-togethers for festivals, birthday celebrations and after work catch ups with our colleagues outside of legal, and team building events to improve the bonding between team members. We also get together to recognise each other’s wins and accomplishments, and the support given by each other as colleagues and friends. Our team’s tagline being #teamspiritkawkaw (“kaw” originated from the hokkien language, used locally to mean thick or strong), and we always strive to live up to this!
