Ethos, culture and diversity.
Professional and fun loving, the StarHub Legal team is a group that enjoys providing strategic and legal advisory to the StarHub Group, whilst connecting with people and learning new technology. We are the trusted advisors to our business colleagues across various business lines, including the consumer and enterprise groups, M&A, infrastructure, IT, HR, finance and sustainability.
Accessibility, agility and clarity are integral to the team’s culture standards, and every lawyer is empowered and encouraged to build ownership over what they are working on, and to be proactive in how they can contribute.
At StarHub, we firmly believe that a well-balanced, diverse and inclusive team contributes positively to our work, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative structuring of solutions to the StarHub group. Embracing technology: At StarHub, we actively explore and leverage the use of technology to keep us agile, efficient and at the forefront. We have adopted a fully paperless environment, including an electronic document management system, a secure encrypted signature solution and digital board management software – all fully aligned with StarHub’s green ethos as the World’s Most Sustainable Telco 2023 as ranked by the Corporate Knights 100. In tandem with the digital transformation of StarHub, we continue to explore further ways and means to simplify and digitalise our processes and workflow.
Continuous learning and development: We recognise that ongoing professional development is important for our lawyers to serve effectively and contribute to the business. Lawyers are encouraged to continually develop and refresh their professional knowledge and skills, not just in the legal space, but beyond into ancillary areas like cybersecurity, generative AI, cloud and sustainability, to keep themselves abreast of new developments in the TMT industry.
Lawyers are also given the opportunity to do portfolio rotation and support different areas of the business. This exposure allows them to learn in a safe space, and develop new skill sets. We seek to maintain optimal areas of expertise, given the evolving and dynamic business landscape in which the StarHub Group operates.
Corporate social responsibility: As a team, we are fully committed to giving back through StarHub’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which create positive social impacts and address the needs of our local communities. The legal team volunteers regularly; most recently in helping to sequester carbon dioxide from our environment by planting trees at Pulau Ubin as part of the NParks’ Plant a Million Trees program. The team also learnt about food security in a visit to Edible Garden City, where we rolled up sleeves to plant edible microgreens.
