About

Sultan S. Albooq began their academic pursuit in the field of law at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah in 2001. Building a solid foundation in the civil law system, Sultan endeavoured to expand his expertise by exploring the common law system which ultimately led them to the United States in 2010, where they pursued their graduate studies. Sultan earned a master’s degree, an LLM, from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law in New York, thereby enriching his comprehension of global legal structures. In addition to their legal education, Sultan furthered his academic pursuits by enrolling in management courses offered by prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School and the University of Oxford.

After completing his studies, Sultan initiated his professional journey at Eversheds, a renowned international law firm. During his tenure there, he was seconded to Microsoft, where he managed the company’s intellectual property (IP) cases within the Kingdom. Sultan’s career progression led him to join the management team at Saudi Mining Company, where he assumed the position of general counsel (GC) for Maaden Gold and Base Metals Company, one of the company’s most profitable subsidiaries. In 2015, his professional journey took a significant turn when he joined Saudi Airlines Catering Company. In his role as general counsel, Sultan played a pivotal role in establishing the legal, compliance, and governance functions from the ground up. Furthermore, Sultan was nominated by the board of directors to oversee the corporate services sector and was entrusted with the leadership of a special transformational project within that sector.

During their tenure at Saudi Airlines Catering Company, Sultan seized the opportunity to drive corporate governance practices, which resulted in the company being acknowledged by the CGC of Alfaisal University for the fourth consecutive year, securing a place among the top ten companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the corporate governance index traded on the Saudi market. In 2022, Sultan embraced a new opportunity and joined the executive team of The Royal Commission for AlUla, where he holds the role of general counsel.

In their current position, Sultan plays a significant role in the implementation of initiatives aligned with Vision 2030. They lead the legal, regulations, and public policy sector, demonstrating their commitment to advancing their profession and fostering prosperity within the business landscape.
