What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, you are passionate about, and why?

Since day one, my main objective was to deeply change the nature role we were used to and therefore its exposure within the business by being a partner from the get-go instead of being an approval point. For that I focused on expanding my mindset to have a comprehensive vision of the business, one way was to prepare myself in other disciplines and another way was to closely accompany other teams to understand their needs and challenges.

Being a comprehensive accompaniment and have presence all the way. The achievement was to change the interaction between business and legal, becoming a strategic and trusted advisor that enables a connection between the commercial objective and what is stipulated in the legal world.

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Mexico?

There are many companies that deal with legal issues as urgent when they are already up and running. Spending as much time as possible putting out fires that occur at a legal or commercial level with legal consequences takes away our attention from the rest of the things that happen, so we enter a vicious cycle of only attending to what we have on top of us without proper planning.

We cannot continue to respond late to the changes that are happening faster and faster, what we must do is influence the changes that occur in a timely manner to become a point of reference, it is not about leading the market but transforming it.

An issue that occupies the legal sector is the full implementation of the series of labor reforms that have taken place in recent years. It has taken many months to implement the labor reform on subcontracting, allocating resources, time, and money to implement it. Now, we are in the same process for the implementation of NOM035. We should accept that we are going to adapt to these reforms and regulations being the new legal reality and stop working at forced marches on their implementations and focus on not leading the market but transforming it.
