Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

We are currently managing a technically complex project within a challenging local and global market. There are numerous parts of this project that must come together to ensure its overall success. Unfortunately, a siloed approach to delivering each of these parts does not lend adequate support to this project. There was a greater need for a more integrated approach, which we recognised across the business. In our capacity as the legal team, we have diligently worked with our internal clients to establish new forums, including structured meetings, email groups, and shared task lists, which serve to bring together different disciplinary teams. The primary goal of these forums is to share information, identify actions related to key project matters, and facilitate a more integrated approach to project delivery. As a result, the legal team has an increased presence as a coordinator and leader in resolving issues, while our group has gained an earlier and heightened awareness of potential emerging issues.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

I am passionate about seeing a genuine increase in the representation of women in formal leadership positions and informal positions of influence within organisations. While significant progress has been made in recent years in increasing the representation of women at law schools and in the legal profession more broadly, both statistical data and anecdotal evidence demonstrate that the increase in the representation of women in positions of senior leadership is still lagging. Leadership occurs through formal groups and informal networks. It is critical for growth and success that a diversity of opinions is heard when crucial decisions regarding values and direction are made.
