Focus on: My legal team

Our legal team gives support to the concession division, participating with concession groups and infrastructure investors in the study, development, financing and operation of infrastructure projects across Latin America. Our legal team supports the business unit in every aspect of the life of these projects: from the initial study of each project and the preparation of the bids, to the award, negotiation and signature of public and private contracts related to the project (with public authorities, private partners and investors), the operation of the project and the negotiation and closing of its financing.

In 2022, the company was awarded new contracts in Colombia, Chile and Spain. Focusing on Latin America, the concession team now has some major assets under management, described below.

In Colombia, OHLA was awarded the design, construction, improvement, operation and maintenance of the Corredor Accesos Norte 2 project in the city of Bogotá, with an investment of approximately EUR 700 million and a concession term of 29 years. The agreement was signed in April 2022 with the Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura (ANI). The new corridor will benefit approximately 8 million inhabitants within the catchment and relieve traffic congestion between Bogotá and the north of the country. We were awarded this project in a 50% JV with a local partner. Our team helped in the study of the project, the preparation of the customary agreements and accompanied the business unit up to the award, and we also recently participated in the sale of 25% of the shares of the concessionaire company to the fund Ashmore.

In Chile, we are developing the Biobío hospital network project, with an investment of close to EUR 400 million and a 19-year concession term for the design, construction, supply and installation of medical equipment, and for the maintenance of four hospitals in the Biobío region, with 569 beds for a population of more than 400,000 people. During 2022, the company moved forward with the design and construction of the hospitals and the legal team is helping with the usual needs of every project at this stage.

The Ministry of Public Works awarded us the design, construction, supply and installation of medical equipment and maintenance of the Instituto Nacional del Cáncer project in the city of Santiago, with an investment of more than EUR 300 million over the next 22 years. The contract award was signed and closed in the first quarter of 2023.

In addition, we continue with the operation of the Santiago courthouse complex, now in its last years of operation.
