What are the most significant cases and transactions in the LATAM region that you or your legal team have recently been involved in?
We have been involved in establishing business partnerships with some of the largest healthcare organisations, across more than ten countries in the region, including labs and hospitals, among others. We have been responsible for negotiating and finalising the agreements.
We have also been involved in checking the regulatory status at various levels for our operations in the region, as well as the creation of local subsidiaries in two countries – with a third one in the works.
How do you adapt your legal counselling to align with the diverse business practices and customs of various LATAM countries?
I aim to balance internationally accepted legal practices while also adapting to the local customs, and I work closely with local advisors to have a local understanding. Furthermore, I place a key focus on ensuring that practices around data protection and patient safety are at the highest level.
What are your organisations plans in the LATAM region over the next 12 months and how will your legal expertise help to achieve these plans?
We are planning to expand the number of local subsidiaries to another two to three countries. We are also in the process of establishing operations and sales in all the remaining countries in the region, while also understanding local needs and regulations. Furthermore, we will continue to work with our corporate team, with the support of local legal counsels as needed in each country. We have now developed a deep understanding of local regulations and needs, and we are striving to adapt our contracts to the different situations and circumstances.
