Until the start of the century, Roche’s distinctive charter in Colombia was its position in the market for syphilis, vitamins and antibiotics, incorporating the most sophisticated technological processes developed globally by the group. In recent years, the Colombian subsidiary, has been in tune with the global strategy of the company, focusing on the most promising fields in the pharmaceutical markets, such as oncology, transplants and infectious disease, where the company seeks to exploit new business opportunities. To launch new drugs in the region, the company has had to face some of the biggest challenges from a legal and compliance perspective, which obviously requires a talented legal department. Led by Johanna Alexandra Garcia Cifuentes, the team has showcased its ability to gain approvals for pioneering drugs and treatments and has received praise from nominators for its expertise in due diligence and intellectual property. Having joined the company two years ago, Garcia is well placed to lead the team into the future thanks to her extensive experience of handling complex legal issues in the banking and pharmaceutical sectors.
