Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?  

We created an intranet with standard templates of basic contracts which the clients were using. We trained a point person in each of the business teams to populate those templates. This reduced the workload of the legal team without creating any additional risk for the company. 

If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?  

A lawyer should be a lifelong learner. Proactively going back to the law books, as often as possible, is required for being a successful legal professional. Knowledge of the business is also always helpful.
