LafargeHolcim
The LafargeHolcim Group was formed in 2015 following a merger between French cement manufacturer Lafarge and Swiss ggregates group Holcim. The new group, which employs 115,000 people, operates in 90 countries and generates a turnover of around $30bn, has become the world leader in building materials. While its activities are global, the company retains a strong Franco-Swiss identity, with an eight person France-based multidisciplinary legal team helping to steer its activities, particularly in the fields of commercial, environmental and competition law. Legal manager Gilles Vanlerberghe was cited by nominators as ‘an excellent example of the depth of talent in the LafargeHolcim legal team, ensuring that a dedicated commercial unit is always at the forefront of the company’s issues’. A much larger global legal team is overseen by Paris-based Neil Curtis, LafargeHolcim’s senior vice president and deputy general counsel.
