How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
The primary action item is to adjust the prio-setting for the legal and compliance team to align with the crisis-adjusted company strategy, to which the general counsel will also provide legal and strategic input. Having a defined global legal and compliance strategy that focuses on risks and features a list of top priority tasks aligned with the corporate strategy is the basis for all legal and compliance work throughout the year.
We have established a legal risk mapping for the organisation based on the organisation’s strategy and risk appetite, which features a “pre-warning” system. This system alerts us if monitored risks start to increase or change the risk portfolio of the organisation. As no organisation is an island, we of course consider the global ecosystem and environment in which the organisation operates. This approach enables us to adjust quickly to new challenges and ideally pre-empt such risks, or at least adequately react to economic instabilities or crisis events.
