What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Our team drives the legal and compliance agenda of Samsung Electronics Türkiye. As our company has zero tolerance policy, we are aiming to implement this concept in its entirety in all aspects as compliance officers. For compliance matters we aim to build up a fully compliant environment and it requires several functions; and one of them is preventing the risks. In this context, we launched two major compliance projects. To successfully establish these projects, first we took the photo of the current structure to point out the problems and deficits; then defined the business needs and scope and implemented the improvement plan by preparing and updating the necessary materials (guides, manuals, workflows, and trainings.

What strategic priorities are guiding you and your team in 2024?

We aim to evolve in-house legal role into a more strategic business partner which will enable us to be a proactive key player rather than a reactive one, a facilitator of business rather than a blocker. Our guidance is to be more proximate to the business and deepen our understanding of various business units, which will allow for a more synchronised effort in driving the company’s objectives forward. In this context, our role should focus more on being strategic and the gatekeeper of the company.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

I am passionate about traveling and exploring different cultures. Travelling is an enriching experience that allows me to explore new places, meet new people, and immerse myself in different cultures.
