What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

I believe the most rewarding project that we accomplished since the beginning of my not so long-ago tenure here at Yıldız Holding was the “Compliance Project” we started last year. Scope of the project initially included compliance with the Personal Data Protection Law and the Competition Law with the main goal to ensure full and sustainable compliance with effective group wide governance structure. After a relatively short period, we are very happy to observe the change in the culture our Group as compliance has become ingrained in the way we conduct business across all our companies; a significant achievement in a short period. Moving forward now, we are going to implement other compliance modules in 2024 and forth.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

I certainly do. My passion lies in supporting and educating young lawyers about the intricacies and operations of in-house legal departments, something young lawyers do not learn during their undergraduate education. That’s why me and few other inhouse aficionados have recently established a new association here in Turkey, that bravely aims to become “centre of excellence and reference” for the local In-house lawyers, something very new to the Turkish legal profession. The association is called “Kurum İçi Avukatlar Derneği”.

We plan to mainly focus on Mentoring, where we share practical insights, legal knowledge, and real-world experiences to help them navigate the complexities of corporate legal work; Career Development, to foster the growth of young lawyers by providing career advice, helping them build essential skills, and encouraging professional development; Navigating Corporate Culture, to introduce young lawyers to the unique organizational dynamics such as the company culture, organizational interactions etc.
