What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We are working in implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in everything we can. We aim to make our team focused on legal and strategic activities, using AI to gain efficiency, reduce costs and support data driven decisions.

What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?

Our culture is one of Mercado Livre’s strengths. What is unique in our culture is the “Beta Continuous” principle. In programming, a beta phase generally begins when the software is feature-complete but likely to contain several known or unknown bugs. We must consider our work is never complete and always in development and improving.

How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?

Using a direct and understandable language, without legal or Latin expressions. This will bring proximity to the relation. Knowing the business in detail is mandatory.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

I am an amateur musician (guitar player) and have the happiness of making some presentations on Mercado Livre’s events (best of both worlds)!
