What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We provide comprehensive legal support for the negotiation of cloud, software, and consulting services agreements, including high-complexity projects and non-standard terms. Successfully led complex negotiations with tier 1 clients, collaborating with the sales team to close important deals for the Portuguese market unit. Our team also provides legal support on facilities, procurement, finance (including revenue recognition, credit collection, commercial, various deal desks and tax), marketing, license compliance and general advice on data protection matters. We also manage external lawyer support for some specific litigation cases.

What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?

In-house lawyers can be a game changer in the tech industry. They should be able to provide creative solutions to allow the success of the business while navigating in a new and increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The legal team will need to simplify legal processes by enhancing communication and automating processes. With clear, consistent, and efficient processes for recurrent topics, the in-house lawyer can increase collaboration on strategic topics.

How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?

The legal team should be prepared to work closely with the sales team, following the contractual lifecycle from the beginning of the negotiations and advising them about the company’s contractual structure and standard conditions. Focus, assertiveness, and kindness are also important soft skills to build a good relationship with business partners.

Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?

Along with my experience in negotiating technology contracts, I’m passionate about compliance and governance. I firmly believe that all lawyers should continuously track changes in laws and regulations to ensure operational strategies are adjusted to maintain complete compliance. This dedication not only protects the business but also demonstrates a strong commitment to integrity and adherence to industry best practices – especially in a dynamic landscape like technology.

Outside of my professional life, I am an avid reader and traveler, always eager to explore new cultures and ideas. My enthusiasm for technology keeps me engaged with the latest innovations, which complements both my career and personal interests. Above all, I take immense pride in being a mom, which is undoubtedly my most fulfilling role. Balancing these aspects of my life fuels my effectiveness and satisfaction both in and out of the office.
