Since her appointment as head of legal and external affairs at Vodafone’s Greek operation, Maria Skagou has made a vital contribution to the company’s “Gigabit” strategy by facilitating the introduction of new telecommunications technologies to the local market. In just over three years at the company, Skagou has also impressed with her knowledge of telecommunications law and public policy, as well as her ability to oversee strategic M&A transactions.

Most recently, for instance, Skagou has participated in key negotiations to acquire CYTA and is at present involved in facilitating this reported $145m transaction. Prior to joining Vodafone, Skagou worked in private practice at M & P Bernitsas (2008-2014). Her former career also features a two-year stint as head of legal of the bakery division of Vivartia and six-and-a-half years as a legal counsel at Mega Channel. Skagou holds a D.E.A in Public Law from University of Strasbourg and a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
