About

Candy has over 25 years’ experience in senior roles within legal practice, financial markets and consulting. She currently holds the position of head legal Stanbic Bank Uganda, a member of the Standard Bank Group.

Before her current station, she was the deputy group company secretary of the UAP Old Mutual Group, part of the Old Mutual global financial services conglomerate, which responsibility she assumed after serving as a senior legal advisor-business Licensing Reform Project at Uganda Investment Climate Program (under the support of the IFC/World Bank Group).

Prior to that, she headed the legal and compliance departments of the Uganda Securities Exchange and the Capital Markets Authority. On a continental level, she has been a member of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Country Review Missions for the Republic of Zambia and the United Republic of Tanzania where she has accomplished several corporate governance assignments.

Candy has also been active in the corporate governance space and has previously served as the Chair of the Centenary Bank Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme Board of Trustees and the Stanbic Incubator Board as well as serving as a Board Member of FINCA Uganda , Great Lakes Safaris Limited and SBG Securities Limited. She is currently the Board Chair of Mayfair Insurance (U) Limited, a Director on the BAT (U) Limited Board (a listed entity on the Uganda Securities Exchange) and a Trustee on the Stanbic Staff Retirement Benefits Scheme Board of Trustees.

Candy holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma from the Law Development Centre of Uganda and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Edinburgh Management School. She has been admitted to the University of Oxford to pursue an Executive, Master’s level Diploma in Strategy and Innovation.
