General legal counsel (Middle East and Africa) | Lafarge Egypt
A construction materials legal specialist, having spent over a decade in the sector (prior to which he worked for retail company Al Bawardi Group in Dubai), Ahmed Barakat is now general legal counsel of LafargeHolcim for the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to working with LafargeHolcim group companies, Barakat cut his teeth in the construction sector with Suez Cement Company Group; here he was soon undertaking multinational negotiations in support of this global construction materials company, and finished his tenure here in the position of group legal director. Moving on to Lafarge Cement Egypt after this, Barakat continued his high level of achievement, and liaised closely with the company’s managing director on a number of important projects. He then progressed from this regional role to the multi-national one he currently undertakes.
Now, he oversees legal requirements for an overall workforce of over 3,000 employees and reports directly to the company’s group legal director at its French headquarters.
