David Nzaligo is an internationally-educated Tanzanian lawyer who holds legal qualifications from the University of San Francisco School of Law and University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. Having initiated his career as a legal counsel at African Barrick Gold (now Acacia Mining), Nzaligo quickly rose through the ranks and got an offer to join Anglogold Ashanti’s Tanzanian operation as a manager of legal services.

In this role, Nzaligo currently provides full operational legal support to Geita Gold Mine, a large scale open pit gold mining operation based in the Geita District, which accounts for approximately 6% of the company’s annual gold production and employs nearly 3,200 people.

Hailed by sources as a ‘dynamic’ and ‘open-minded’ lawyer, Nzaligo is capable of providing hands-on business advice to senior management issues by bringing a unique international perspective to commercial issues. Nzaligo is in charge of all legal aspects of the mine’s operation, such as overseeing litigations and dealing with contract, compliance and labour issues.
