Established in 1938, Elsewedy Electric has developed into a key energy player in both its home market of Egypt and throughout its far-reaching global operations. Mahmoud Shaarawy joined Elsewedy Electric in July 2010 as a senior legal counsel but having excelled in negotiating and delivering on complex agreements with clients, contractors and partners involving tri-lingual contracts (Arabic, English and French), he was promoted after just one year to the position of group head of the legal department. In that role, Shaarawy continued to impress by managing team of 12 lawyers that served 74 companies both within and outside of Egypt. He now holds the position of group legal director at the energy solution provider, managing 18 lawyers that serve 85 companies within the Elsewedy Electric group.
Before joining the company, Shaarawy held in-house legal positions at telecommunication company Alkan CIT between 2008 and 2010 and global provider of cloud computing Oracle for one year prior. He was a senior associate at Eldib Advocates for three years after starting his legal career in 2003 as a legal specialist in the Egyptian government’s Ministry of Administrative Development.
