The primary mobile telephone network operator in Algeria, Djezzy is majority state-owned and a highly important company for the country. Sophie Verdejo began her career there in April 2013, and has made a substantial impression in her role as chief legal officer in the four years plus since.

In particular, her contributions to corporate governance have been noted by colleagues, as have her overall skills in regards to corporate law. Prior to working at Djezzy, Verdejo was general counsel of Maroc Telecom in Morocco for an extended period, racking up over eight years in the in-house legal department of this highly important African Telecoms operation.

Her career before this included a further in-house role in the media sector with Vivendi, as well as spells within leisure and tourism with Club Med and household products with Moulinex.
