Led by general counsel Hélène N’Garnim-Ganga, the legal team at African Development Bank is made up of experts that each bring a unique talent. Founded in 1964 to contribute to the economic development and social progress of African countries, African Development Bank boasts a team to reflect and represent its vision for progression throughout the region. As a newly appointed general counsel and member to the senior management team (effective as of September 2016), N’Garnim-Ganga brings an excellent breadth of experience and knowledge, with 25 years of leadership experience in legal corporate governance as well as managing strategic projects and operational programs. N’Garnim-Ganga was instrumental in the setting up of the Zimbabwe Multi-Donor Trust Fund (ZIMFUND) to support Zimbabwe’s development, and played a central role in the formation of the anti-corruption department. Amongst her other achievements within the bank, she lead the set-up of a guarantee facility in the Seychelles enabling the country to renegotiate its private debt with its multiple private creditors.

The team’s expertise in law, operations and international jurisdictions gives the bank a unique position to provide the best legal support for the new developments and business delivery models that it supports across Africa. Amongst the talented members of the team Pointer Chinyerere, principal legal counsel, and Brendon Moyo, chief legal counsel, received praise for their invaluable contribution to a number of financial projects and input to the bank’s strategy towards Africa’s transformation and social progress.
