Seven Energy International
With a focus on the Nigerian market and extensive operations in the Niger Delta, integrated oil and gas infrastructure company Seven Energy has found itself having to negotiate a number of political and macroeconomic challenges over recent years.
Private practice nominators were emphatic in their praise of the UK-based legal team and pointed to its role in helping the company to remain commercially strong in the face of challenging conditions. Hugely respected general counsel Ian Brown-Peterside, described as ‘one of the smartest and most brilliant GCs in the energy sector’, commands a tight but highly effective team of energy specialists, including senior counsel and head of legal services Amos Carrington and legal counsel Rashida Afolabi.
Nominators also commented on the team’s skill and tact in dealing with commercial relationships, something they say has helped to maintain strong relations with its Nigeria-based joint venture partner. Seven Energy recently signed a long term gas purchase and sale agreement with Notore Chemical Industries, a standout transaction in Nigeria.
