About

The African market is a significant one for Unilever’s vast and diverse product range, and Unilever has in turn become one of the most important multinationals operating on the Continent. Among other highlights for the company over the past year, its Kenyan, Ghanaian, South Africa and Nigerian subsidiaries were certified as one of the top employers in Africa by industry press. Unilever’s legal function in Africa not only has to handle the wide array of legal matters that the company faces, but is responsible for compliance and regulatory oversight, IP and brand protection and training.

The team also plays a significant role in governance, with a number of members present at executive management level. Bidemi Ademola is legal director and company secretary for Unilever Nigeria, and oversees legal matters for nine countries in sub-Saharan Africa including Ghana.
