Founded in Durban, Aspen Pharmacare is a major international pharmaceutical company with a 160-year heritage in South Africa, and has been listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange for 20 years. Heading the company’s legal team in the dual role of group legal officer and group compliance officer is Kurt Drieselmann. The team he leads is tasked with handling all legal aspects concerning the international business with a focus on commercial transactions, regulations and corporate matters across the region and beyond. Amongst their recent achievements, the in-house legal team worked on the opening of a new R1bn high containment facility in Port-Elizabeth. In 2017 they gained industry recognition for helping the company be cleared of alleged anti-competitive behaviour by the Democratic Alliance and also for working on a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Federation.
