Barclays Bank Moçambique provides personal and business banking services for corporate customers and individuals in Mozambique. Founded in the country in 1977, it is based in Maputo with branches across the rest of the nation. Hernane Estanque joined the bank in February 2016 in the capacity of senior legal counsel, but since December 2017 has served as the head of the legal department where he manages the legal department in consulting the corporate and business banking units in dealing with a range of financial challenges and projects. Most notably, the legal department has overseen the development of the Bank’s digital area with the introduction of mobile services, a mobile banking app and internet banking services. The legal department ensure compliance in a number of areas and services, including retail and commercial banking, debit and credit cards, and insurance products and services ensuring the company stay abreast of regulatory challenges in all areas affecting the Bank.
