Leading steel producer Ezz Steel is the largest steel company in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa region. Together with its subsidiaries, it produces and sells long and flat steel products internationally, while manufacturing and trading steel and related products. The Egypt legal team is led by general counsel, Waleed Shoukry, who joined the company in October 2015. The legal department has recently supported the company in its plans to expand in the region, where it has now become a global player with investments of more than US$4bn in the latest technology, helping on the addition of the new Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) mega module at Ain Sokhna Ezz Steel, and becoming the second largest DRI producer worldwide, with a capacity of 5.1 million tons per year. The legal team has successfully helped the company start-up of the HYL III, DR plant in December 2015, allowing Ezz Steel to meet its objective of servicing two product ranges, long products and hot rolled coils.
