Water utility company Rand Water operates with the simple vision of being an industry leader and partner of choice in sustainable bulk water services. It supplies potable water to the Guateng province of South Africa and other areas of the country and is the largest water utility in Africa. Rand Water’s legal department is led by legal manager Thabisa Mange who brings her commercial legal background to the legal department, and guides them in expediting major projects concerning the construction of several large dams and pipeline transporting water projects. The legal department gives advice on schemes designed to deliver a large amount of water to certain areas in line with the company’s key fundamentals of the government’s development strategy. The team has also helped the company create partnerships with various municipalities to implement projects aimed at reducing water losses from leaking plumbing installations – a pressing challenge facing inhabitants.
