Well known in Argentina’s in-house community for leading large legal teams at multinational organisations, as well as for her understanding of corporate law and governance, Deborah-Maria Luchetta heads the legal team and coordinates data protection at Mercedes-Benz Argentina. The company has a strong position in the local automobile market, operating a factory that manufactures buses, trucks and vans, being the first Mercedes-Benz factory built outside of Germany in 1951. Having this base has helped make Mercedes-Benz an undisputable leader in Argentina’s trucks, buses and vans business, holding around 30% of the market share. Luchetta has been a vital element of the company’s success, having held numerous leadership positions within the legal department over the last 12 years. Apart from contributing to day-to-day legal management and support, Luchetta also has an influence on important strategic initiatives undertaken by the company. A considerable proportion of Luchetta’s prior career (approximately eight years) was spent at healthcare company Baxter Argentina, while her first in-house role was of deputy legal manager at Molinos Río de la Plata, the largest Argentinian branded foods production company.
