Founded in 1961 and currently headquartered in Luxemburg, Ternium is the leading steel company in Latin America with highly integrated processes to manufacture steel and value-added products. The company develops flat and long steel products and has major production centres in Argentina, the United States, Mexico, Colombia and Guatemala. Fernando Duelo, general counsel for Argentina, oversees a highly commended legal unit, comprised of savvy and commercially aware lawyers who are known for their excellent technical expertise across a variety of areas. Having been general counsel at Ternium for over a decade, Duelo has been an asset to the strategic and commercial affairs of the company. Currently, Duelo is directly involved in Ternium’s efforts to expand into Brazil, by overseeing the negotiations with ThyssenKrupp to buy CSA Cia Siderúrgica do Atlántico, a steel mill based in Rio de Janeiro that has a capacity to produce five million tonnes of steel annually.
