Gonzalo Videla is a young and brilliant lawyer, known for his leadership skills, team work and ability to communicate and negotiate effectively. Since joining Merck in 2013 as legal and compliance director responsible for the Southern Cone of Latin America, Videla has introduced fundamental changes to the legal unit that have resulted in noticeable improvements to its work. Apart from standardising work in the department and simplifying certain procedures, Videla also automated processes so that the direct involvement of his team was not always needed, thus freeing up resources and allowing for more efficient use of time. Videla is also known for his excellent transactional record, in particular, closing strategic partnerships with other pharmaceutical companies involving contracts that contained important legal and compliance content. Prior to joining Merck, Videla worked as a legal manager for Walmart in Argentina and as an associate at Perez Alati, Grondona, Benites, Arntsen & Martinez de Hoz (h).
