Beginning her in-house career at global medical devices company St. Jude Medical in 2008, Ines Riobo first came to the healthcare industry after gaining years of experience in law firms and at the National Senate, most notably as an associate at Baker McKenzie where she was employed for a decade. These experiences suitably prepared her for her current role as the head of legal for three different subsidiaries of pharmaceutical company Sanofi. Presiding over the legal affairs of Sanofi-Aventis, Sanofi Pasteur and Genzyme, Riobo must take a cross-border approach to her work, with matters and responsibilities rooted in countries across the region including in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia. Nominators spoke of Riobo’s all-round approach to legal function management, in particular her efforts to ‘train employees, distributors and agents’ and her ‘broad involvement’ in policy-violation investigations, successfully saving huge amounts of time and revenue for the company.
