With a deep knowledge of all relevant legal and commercial factors affecting the Oracle business in the region, Lucio Maria Fabani Larranaga is known for his skill across several practice areas in different jurisdictions, particularly negotiations, tax planning, international law and M&A. With over a decade of experience honed at Sun Microsystems as legal director for the Latin America region, Fabani cites ‘gaining internal customers’ confidence and being seen as part of the team and not just a step to get approvals’ as the biggest achievement of his in-house career thus far. His role at Oracle is one that allows him to enjoy ‘the regular relationship as a business partner’ and ‘counselling management on a regular basis’. In 2010, Sun Microsystems was integrated into the Oracle business after the company’s acquisition. This complex merger of two leading technology companies required a tremendous amount of work from the legal department on both sides – Fabani was legal director at Sun Microsystems at the time. Fabani assumed his current role at Oracle after the completion of this transaction.
