Sergio Ricardo Salmi has spent nearly 20 years working in-house in the Argentine finance sector and has served as general counsel at Banco Itaú Argentina, a subsidiary of the Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco, since 2010. Ricardo Salmi currently leads a team of 12 lawyers and oversees legal, contentious and corporate affairs for the group across Argentina. Before joining Banco Itaú Argentina, he worked within the insurance division of BBVA for nearly 13 years. He was previously recognised in The Legal 500 GC Powerlist – Latin America for his many contributions to banking and finance law in Argentina and for his work to change the structure of the Banco Itaú Argentina legal team, including implementing legal directors. Since that time he has continued to innovate within his role, supporting the bank’s operations through a period of significant economic and political change in the country.
