Head of legal affairs – corporate | Cablevisión
Cablevisión is one of Latin America’s largest cable television operators and one of the region’s main telecommunications companies, operating pay-tv, internet and telephone services through a single network. In 2003 Cablevisión acquired Argentina-based internet service provider Fibertel. It was itself acquired by media conglomerate Grupo Clarín and merged with Argentine pay-tv operator Multicanal in 2006. In 2009, Walter Würst assumed the position of head of legal affairs for corporate matters at Cablevisión. The company’s legal affairs are handled thematically, with operations and human resources led by Maria Torrens and criminal matters and piracy led by Piris Sergio. Nominators praised the entire legal team as a standout in the Latin American media sector though Würst was singled out in particular for his broad-ranging contributions to Cablevisión. He oversees all drafting and negotiation related to commercial contracts as well as managing relationships with broadcast and regulatory bodies and assisting in intellectual property matters and cases related to piracy. Before joining Cablevisión, Würst spent around 15 years working at a number of prominent Argentine law firms. Würst left Cablevisión in late 2016 after the research period of this publication.
