As a sub-regional legal director at Air Liquide, a French multinational gas and energy technology company, Hernan Dayen is responsible for all legal affairs in areas of corporate strategy, business development, project financing and corporate restructuring, project delivery, ethics and compliance, contracts, IP, data privacy, competition law, risk management and public bids. He also acts as secretary of the board of directors, and represents Air Liquide International at the shareholders’ general meetings of South American subsidiaries and is a member of the executive committee. Additionally he oversees and handles all operational legal matters including contract drafting negotiations and procurement, litigation, arbitration and mediation, ethics and compliance program and training, internal policy development, corporate governance and manages the in-house legal team and outside counsel. He places a high premium on providing pre-emptive legal support in Spanish, English or German and has experience in America, Europe, West Africa, Middle East and Asia. A nominator highlights that ‘Dayen is a lawyer with substantial in-house experience in large multinational corporations and private practice legal experience in top-tier law firms. He has broad experience in structuring, negotiating and closing complex transactions and start-ups. [Dayen] has over US$25bn in cumulative project value of negotiated and closed deals. He is member of the Buenos Aires Bar Association and the San Isidro Bar Association, with extensive experience in dealing with common law documentation. He is also has extensive experience in compliance including matters related to export controls and embargoed countries’.
