Tomas Savage is the legal counsel of Alstom in Argentina. He handles the legal affairs of the train manufacturing division, one of the most challenging and relevant lines of business at Alstom. In the words of a nominator, ‘he moves swiftly in addressing legal issues with attention to detail, fast responding and deals with local administrative issues related to Alstom contract opportunities. In his many capabilities he specialises in structuring transactions and negotiating complex transactions’. In the last two years Savage has been involved in the successful award of major state contracts on Argentina’s train network. Alstom was awarded the contract worth US$16m to upgrade the signalling system at the Ciudad Universitaria, Aristóbulo del Valle, Munro, Boulogne Sur Mer and Grand Bourg stations on the Belgrano Norte suburban line in Buenos Aires. Additionally, Alstom has signed a contract for €90m as part of a consortium to modernise the signalling system on the General Roca railway, and in a separate unique negotiation, the contract to build the signalling system for the new viaduct on the San Martín line.
