What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Recently, our team faced new challenges related to novel product offerings and business models, in a manner and scale that we were not used to. Our team was able to adapt and step up to provide valued advice to our internal customers, allowing us to be acknowledged as true business partners.
Additionally, we have been strongly supporting our internal customers with the challenges arising from the post-pandemic supply chain constrains, and this has been a top priority for us and the business.
The company I work in is currently in a spin-off process which is an exciting and challenging journey, and our team is a key participant in the execution of this project for which completion is expected for next year.
Last year, I was trusted with an expanded territory and a broader team. With a continuous improvement mentality, we managed to simplify existing, and create new, commercial documents for certain areas within the company, to help our internal customers to gain empowerment, focus and celerity to do business.
What will be the main focus for the company in the next 12 months and how do you intend to assist with this?
We are already working on a contract lifecycle management project in the region that automatises the quoting and contracting process. Additionally, we are assessing and drafting new commercial documents for the digital portfolio of the region, that reflects the evolution of the corresponding offerings to support the sustainable growth that our sector requires. I humbly believe that it is very important for lawyers to understand the digital environment, and for said reason I am completing a master’s degree in IT law at the University of Buenos Aires.
What do you feel is the best way to get more women into in-house legal leadership positions?
I currently work for a company that truly fosters a diverse culture and has integrity embedded in its DNA. Firstly, I believe equal legal licenses for parenting should be adopted by countries and companies, and this decision may be impactful to get more women into in-house legal leadership positions, among other leadership roles. Additionally, it is important to lead by example: when you get the chance to build a team, build a diverse one! Take advantage of the multiple benefits of having a diverse team, as that can bring an innovative vision and boost creativity. As a third action, as in-house counsel, we can also prioritise the contracting of legal suppliers that have women in leadership roles. If we value opportunities for women within the companies we work with, we also help the market in general for women to gain experience and acumen in leadership legal roles (whether as in-house or outside counsel).
