What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Most recently, we have been reviewing agreements because of the Covid-19 pandemic to try to understand its effects. We were asked to make some legal solution in circumstances nobody would ever imagine. This was one of the moments in which we had to focus all our legal knowledge to increase the business and its vision, trying to avoid any risks, but aware that we were facing a situation never seen before.
Do you use any “legal tech” products and do you find them a helpful management device?
We use many legal tech products, such as digital signatures. We also use some software to manage and secure our agreements. The use of legal tech these days is a crucial tool to attend the development of the company’s business in a digital world. All this requires not only a knowledge of legal techniques, but also of technologies that facilitate an agile legal response.
Furthermore, the pandemic was a situation that forced us to quickly change our mind towards incorporating modern technologies that simplify and improve the performance of the legal team.
How much influence do you, as a general counsel, have on the diversity and inclusion policies of your organisation?
As a general counsel, I have a strong influence on the diversity and inclusions policies within the company. We explain to all organisations the importance of these policies both for the company and for society in general. Also, we reinforce the importance of recognising that inclusion is everyone’s job, learning to accept our differences and working together to minimise the differences between us.
